Over the years, VW Type 2 transaxles came with three different tooth counts for spiders and sidegears. Early 002 Bus transaxles had 11 tooth spiders and 17 tooth sidegears. Late 002 Bus transaxles used a 10T/16T combination. All 091 Bus and Vanagon transaxles used a 9T/14T combination. Of these, the 091 spiders and sidegears are the strongest. They can be retrofitted into any ‘69-’75 002 Bus transaxle by installing a complete 091 differential, flange to flange.
