The plastic differential bearing ring securing caps will tear irreparably if the original plates are not used.
You could reuse the old plates, but that is not wise. They not only serve to secure the covers, which have a larger surface area than a normal ring, preventing them from tearing, but also serve as locking plates.
We therefore recommend that you use new plates once they have been removed. They are supposed to be slightly curved in order to maintain a slight tension on the mounting screw and the cover, which is probably not the case with the old plates.
