T25 Hydraulic clutch pipe rear section 251-721-479 (early type)
The third generation Volkswagen Bus switched from a mechanical clutch to a full hydraulic system in 1982. Clutch cable adjustment and wear are now a thing of the past, and operation is much smoother.
Alongside its many advantages, this system also has its drawbacks: as the car ages, problems can arise with the hydraulic system, with leaks being the most common problem.
Oil is transported from the pedal cylinder to the gearbox cylinder via a metal hose, a flexible hose which is then transformed back into a metal hose. Hoses (like brake lines) must be checked at every overhaul. If the hose is corroded by rust, it should be replaced before pedaling with the clutch.
The central hose running from front to rear and the section after the flexible hose are both available separately. If the swivel breaks, you can replace only the part you need.
Don't forget to check the hose connected to it, and replace it immediately if necessary
